Cut throat razor blades

Hand made theatrical prop for productions of Steven Sondheim's
musical 'Sweeney Todd'.

A set of two different oversized razors, one moveable
the other fixed with a dummy handle.

In 2003 I was asked to make a pair of cut throat razors
for a production of Sweeney Todd by 4thWall
Productions in Ealing, London.
Since then I've had multiple requests for other performances.

I have now made a brand new pair of razors which are
available to hire, I'm also in the process of making
a second set, due to demand.
I'm afraid I will no longer be making blades to sell.

About the blades

There are two blades, though you don't have to use both.
They're large scale 'cartoon' cut throat razor blades, about
12" (30cm) long when opened out so they're easily visible from
a distance.
Stainless steel (very blunt!) blades with wodden handles.

One blade is a functioning blade, ie you can open and close it
and hold it like you would when really shaving.

The other blade is fixed in a straight, open position, it has a soft
dummy handle on the reverse side which can be filled with a tube of stage
blood, when the handle is squeezed the blood runs along the blade giving a reasonably gruesome effect.

Rental details

The blades are available to hire at a daily or weekly rate.
£5 per day ($8.06)
£20 per week ($32.25)
A deposit of £100 ($161.28) is also required, this will be
given back on the return of the blades in good condition at the end of the stated rental period.
